Mehrdad is a self- educated artist who has studied and practiced traditional techniques for over 40 years. Of the multitude of styles, it is Impressionism which has captivated him the most and had the strongest influence on his continuously evolving artwork. His subjects are diverse, but he primarily focuses on portraiture and landscapes, with oil and charcoal being his preferred mediums. His work has been widely exhibited, both domestically and abroad and has won several awards. In 2016 his work was selected for Imago Mundi (Luciano Benetton Collection – Italy).

Mehrdad has been featured in various publications, including the ‘Concise Dictionary of New Zealand Artists’; as a featured artist in ‘The Best of Worldwide Artists Working in Charcoal, Pastel and Pencils’ (by Kennedy Publishing USA 2006), Australian Artist Magazine & NZ Artist Magazine.
